mermaids.

mer

maid

i like seeing the cycles of requests- for awhile i'll get a bunch of owls, or a bunch of bugs, and right now it's all mermaids. the 8 year old in me is so stoked to be drawing tons of mermaids, i'm not gonna lie.

things have slowed down a lot around here, which is not something i'm complaining about. we're moving at the end of this month and i'll have a full on studio in my own house to work with and i'm so pumped! after that hopefully updates will be less sporadic. i'm still open to orders though, so don't hesitate to contact me.

  2. michael, i don't think you're really understanding how this works. these drawings are all commissions, meaning they're sold before i even draw them. feel free to email me to commission something, but you can go ahead and leave out any creepy notes about needing big tits on the mermaids, okay?

  4. Hello Alicia, I admire the fact that you are able to sell your drawings online, contrary to my fear that many artists do starve to death. Let's get it out with..see, my daughter's only passion is drawing and I have reasons not to send her to an art college. I just posted a manga picture of hers depicting all the characters of Alice in Wonderland as part of my lessons. Reading your blog gives me hope that there are ways to survive as an artist. My best wishes to you, Alicia.

  5. dolly, i don't want to sound like a dick, but how much money do you honestly think i make off this blog? i am over 60k in debt from college, and this is barely supplementing my minimum wage coffee shop job. 10 dollars for a drawing is a STEAL, in my opinion, and doing this blog is basically my way of panhandling until something better comes along. consider that before you send your kids to a private art school. if i could go back in time, i wouldn't have gone. besides, my BFA is in photography, not drawing.

  6. Thank you very much for your reply, Alica. I don't have to feel guilty any more. I do hope something better will come your way soon.

  7. Hello Alicia, I love your drawings....how do I comission one? My eight year old sees herself as a mermaid. We live in Mendocino and she braves the waters until I drag her out. She won't let me cut her hair. And she's always drawing mermaids. I would love to give her a picture for her birthday. What do you need?
    thanks Melinda
